Wine Spritz

A wine spritz sounds like one of those awful wine coolers from the 80’s, but it’s actually not sweet, and is kind of perfect for daytime drinking, or anytime when you want a little something but prefer to keep it low in alcohol. Adding an apple slice gently perfumes and flavors the drink without overwhelming the flavor of the wine.

Makes 8 servings

Ice cubes as needed

1 bottle white wine (I like a light, clean style like pinot gris for this)

1 bottle sparkling water

1 Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced

Fill each wine glass halfway with ice cubes.

Add 3 ounces wine to each glass, then fill to the top with sparkling water.

Top with an apple slice, and serve.
